If you are looking for ways on how to relieve constipation, you may have heard about commercial chemical laxatives already. And if you are using these laxatives, then you have the right to know that these can kill friendly bacteria in your gout. Chemically produced laxatives can also lessen the ability of your intestinal wall to absorb nutrients and other essential vitamins. What you don’t want to happen is to be taking these laxatives habitually, since it can cause constipation in the long run. If you are looking for tips on how to relieve constipation quickly, then this article is not for you. These natural remedies promote holistic ways on how to manage constipation.
You may not be aware that the supplement you are taking is causing your constipation. Are you taking iron supplement? Or do your multivitamins contain iron in it? You have to check it, because it can cause constipation, and the excess iron can also lead to other colorectal problems in the long run. However if you are trying to get pregnant, you have to check your doctor first before stopping your intake of iron. Another surprising supplement that may cause constipation is calcium carbonate. To avoid constipation caused by calcium carbonate, you have to take half the dose – take one after lunch and the other after dinner. Taking this supplement after meal is good for better absorption of calcium in the body. And remember to avoid eating chocolates during, before and after this supplement, because it can prevent proper absorption of calcium.
Good morning sunshine!
Start your day by drinking water with your stomach still empty because it can stimulate peristalsis movement. Peristalsis is an activity of the intestine where it flushes out the feces. This activity causes the feeling of dumping. Remember that the most natural way for bowel movement is a few hours after waking up. Another tip is drinking 1 cup of warm water with half a lemon and honey before eating your breakfast. If you’re not into the citrusy taste, then you can try these other alternatives. These juices or fruits are to be taken at room temperature:
- You can soak 6 to 8 dried figs or dates in a glass of water, and let it stay overnight. Then in the morning drink the mixture and eat the dates or figs. Or you can try eating 2 small beets in the morning; expect bowel movement within 12 hours.
- An hour before lunchtime you can drink a mixture of 1 teaspoon of blackstrap molasses in ½ cup of warm water. Other options are drinking prune juice or eating stewed prunes or a portion of papaya.
So what about before going to bed? Here’s what you can do: before dinner, take 1 tablespoon of raisins or 3 prunes that have been soaking in water for a couple of hours.
Yummy foods that relieve constipation…
In the morning while eating your cereals or oatmeal, you can sprinkle it with flaxseed. You can also mix it in a glass of water and drink it right after lunch or dinner. You can also use salba instead of flaxseed. Keep in mind that it is best to eat 3 raw fruits daily. Apple is preferred to be eaten 2 hours after dinner.
Another natural laxative that you can try is olive oil. This oil is also known to be good in lowering your cholesterol levels. You can take 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil in the morning and 1 tablespoon an hour after eating dinner.
Some people find brewer’s yeast and wheat germ effective in relieving constipation. You can start with a dose of 1 heaping teaspoon of brewer’s yeast and 1 heaping teaspoon of wheat germ each meal. You can also increase the amount until you get results.
Garlic is also good for constipation, even Hippocrates recommended this to be eaten raw or included in your dish every day. Other natural laxatives are onions, cabbage, broccoli and escarole. You can eat the escarole raw or boil it in water. Spinach is a mild laxative, but it is full of essential vitamins and minerals.
I believe you are aware that colon cleansing is good for those who are looking for pain relief for constipation. If you don’t have the time to visit a certified colon hydrotherapist, then better try drinking 8 ounces of raw sauerakraut juice. Follow your sauerakraut juice with 8 ounces of unsweetened grapefruit juice. This may sound a bit off, but you’ll find it helpful once you tried it.
Below is a video of my friend who’s a certified hydrotherapist. With her brief explanation, you’ll be able have an idea on how colon irrigation is done.
