Take a cube of cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Swiss cheese after eating cavity causing food like sweets and starch. It is found out that cheese reduces bacterial acid production that may cause the cavity.
- In preventing cavities from developing, you can also use blackstrap molasses. It contains an ingredient that can protect you from tooth decay. Sunflower seed is also good in preventing tooth decays. You need 1 tablespoon of molasses in water and a handful of shelled, raw, unsalted sunflower seeds every day. You have to rinse thoroughly with water after the molasses.
- You can also drink black tea before or in between meals. Researchers from the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry found out that the components in black tea are capable in preventing bacterial plaque from forming. It can also help in preventing gum diseases.
- Promegranate juice is also good in preventing cavities. However, drinking too much of this juice may lead to constipation. And also, if you are taking any prescribed drugs like those for your high cholesterol levels, be sure not to take this juice. It may interact with the drugs that you are taking.
