You may not be aware that there is a PROPER way to drink water. This technique is practiced to enhance the functionality of your digestive system. Hence, this will lead to complete digestion of the food you eat.
Why do I need to drink water?
70% of our body is composed of water. This is a proof that water is more essential compared to food. Dehydration from water is dreadful. It can kill us even before hunger can. The problem with our body is that we need water, but we don’t crave for it. Water is essential to our cells to maintain their normal function. Water is needed in the transport of nutrients, hormones and waste products inside our body. Enough reasons to conclude that we need to drink the right amounts of water to sustain or normal body functions.
So when is the right time to drink water and how often?
- Begin your day by drinking 8 glasses of water. Warm water is preferred than hot, because it will maximize your body’s functionality.
- Here’s a tip: Do not drink water within meals. Avoid intake of water 15 minutes before and an hour after a meal. Water dilutes the digestive juices inside your stomach. If there are not enough digestive juices in your stomach, it will impair your food digestion.
- Ice- water may decrease the surface blood in the stomach and it may require too much energy to warm itself up.
- Drink at least two glasses of water between breakfast and lunch. In between lunch and dinner, another two. And one or two glasses before going to bed. During warm days you are advised to drink water more than six glasses. If you experience excessive perspiration, water should be taken to replenish your body’s water supply and thus avoid dehydration. And also, you may not know that thirst is not a very reliable sign of water deficiency inside our body.
- If you are drinking water to lose weight then you are recommended to drink water during hunger streaks. Thirst may be perceived as hunger. Also, drinking a cup of herb tea (without sugar or cream) usually takes the-hungry-feeling away.
